How do I invite a policyholder to scan an interior?

Invite policyholders to scan the interior of their property with the Hover app so you have the floor plan and measurements needed to adjust their claim, without stepping foot onsite.

Updated over a week ago

Invite policyholders to scan their property with the Hover app and:

  • Remove the need for on-site visits

  • Receive to-the-inch measurements, a virtual walkthrough, and other property imagery, derived from the homeowner’s scan

  • Boost homeowner satisfaction with quicker estimates and 3D visualizations

Note: We're rolling out a new experience. If your project details page looks different, you may still be on our Legacy experience.

Step-by-step guide

Step 1 - Invite the policyholder to download the Hover app:

You can invite the policyholder or another professional to scan the property via the mobile or web app.

Starting from the mobile app

  • Tap Start a project or tap '+' at the bottom of the screen

  • Select Interior measurements

  • Fill out the Property details, then tap Invite to capture

Starting from the web app

  • Log in to your Hover account

  • Tap + New

  • Tap Invite to capture

Step 2 - The policyholder scans their property with Hover:

The policyholder, or another professional you may have invited, will receive the Hover invite both via email and text message to download the Hover app and complete the scan. At the same time, you will see a status tracker from the project details page while you wait for them to complete the interior scan.

Important to note:

  • If the policyholder has a LiDAR device (Apple Pro: 12+ iPhone or iPad) that will be their default experience and they will follow specific in-app guidance to complete the scan.

    • LiDAR scans are returned in about a minute.

  • If the policyholder does not have a LiDAR device, they will default to Hover's universal scan experience.

    • Universal scans are returned in about 3 hours or less.

Step 3 - Receive the 3D model, measurements, and more:

Once the scan has been processed, you will receive:

  • Detailed measurements (including cabinets, walls, windows, opening, and doors)

  • 2D and 3D sketch floor plans

  • Localized property photos, and damage photos (unless the policyholder did not record damage photos during the scanning process)

  • 360° virtual walkthrough of the space

  • Direct sketch and measurements imported into Xactimate and Cotality (FKA CoreLogic)
