What a roof facet looks like and how it is depicted in the PDF

Updated this week

When you receive a measurement PDF from Hover, several pages and tables are included to make your workflow easier. This article focuses on the valuable information you can obtain about a property's facets from the roof summary page, and roof facets page.

What is a facet?

A facet is one plane or surface of a multi-sectioned roof that is over 4 square feet.

Click the arrows below for visual examples of various facets of a property.

A standard up-and-over roof with two sections has (2) roof facets:

If that same up-and-over roof from the previous example had a dormer window added onto the property, the total number of roof facets would increase from (2) to (4).
