What's preventing my measurements from being completed?

Reasons a project may pause or show a failed status

With proper imagery of a structure, Hover can generate 3D measurements and more for almost any project. If we aren't able to generate 3D measurements for one of your projects, you will receive an email with a short explanation, and may need to provide us with additional information.

Common reasons an exterior scan submission may be paused:

Not enough corner shots, or photos are too close-up

Make sure to stand as far back as you can when capturing the corners of the building, close-up shots will not work.

You can add more photos in the app by tapping + Add photos

Obstructions blocking key parts of the building

Sometimes changing your capture angle will help you avoid large obstructions to get a better shot of the corners.

Photos are blurry, weren't taken with a smartphone, or are too dark

We can only use original photos that are captured on a smart phone. Make sure to use flash for images captured at night.

Reference measurements required

If we require a reference measurement to complete your submission, you will see a failed notification on your project in the mobile app with additional information that reads: Additional information needed.

To resolve this issue:

  • Tap Add measurements

  • Follow the in-app guide to select a wall or garage door to measure. Remember that whatever you choose to measure should already be visible in one of the photos previously submitted within the app.

  • Tap Finish from the confirmation screen to the failure notification email with a reference measurement of a wall or door that can is clearly visible in one of the submitted photos.

  • The job status will progress within the app and appear as Done once the measurements and 3D model are ready
