What's New? Hover's LiDAR Interior Scan now includes a Preview and Refinement flow. Once your scan reaches the Refining phase, you can preview a PNG floor plan while Hover automatically detects and fixes any found-sketch issues (e.g. misaligned walls, open-concept rooms, or incorrect wall heights) before outputs are sent to Xactimate or Cotality. You can wait for refinement to finish or accept v1 measurements immediately, with auto-import into Xactimate and Cotality either way.
Overview
The in-app progress tracker now reflects six stages: Upload → Evaluating → Building → Refining → Finalizing→ Done. After it finishes building, Hover’s newest refinement stage begins; automatically detecting and correcting common sketch issues, if found.
While it’s Refining, you can preview your floor plan and choose how to proceed. If the preview measurements meet your documentation needs, you can accept them instantly and keep your claim moving. If you want more complete measurements, you can wait for refinement to finish.
Your outputs — floor plan, sketch, measurements, and virtual walkthrough — auto-import into Xactimate and Cotality regardless of which path you choose. For multi-level properties, each level runs through refinement independently, with its own preview and its own option to skip.
Note: This update is part of a phased release and may not be available to all users yet. If your experience looks different, or you'd like early access, please contact our Support team.
How to use it
Once your scan begins Refining, your preview of the v1 measurements will be available.
How to open the preview:
Open the project in the Hover app once it's in the Refining stage.
When the preview is ready, tap or click View Preview from the status screen.
Your floor plan preview displays as a PNG.
Note: For multi-level scans, each level has its own preview screen.
From the Preview screen, you can choose to skip refinement and release your v1 measurements immediately. This delivers your outputs right away and bypasses the remainder of the refinement process. After skipping, the project status moves to Finalizing for 1–2 minutes before completing.
How to skip refinement:
On the Preview screen, tap or click Skip Refinement.
Review the confirmation prompt and confirm your choice. You'll be asked to confirm twice before refinement is skipped.
Your project moves to the Finalizing stage. Outputs will be available — and will auto-import into Xactimate and Cotality — once the scan reaches Done.
Note for multi-level scans: Each level has its own Skip Refinement option. Skipping refinement for one level does not affect any other level — you'll make this choice separately for each level you scanned.
Why this is better
Previously without the refinement cycle, common interior sketch issues like misaligned walls, open-concept rooms, or incorrect wall heights, needed to be manually fixed in your estimation platform. The new preview and refinement flow changes that.
Earlier access to measurements: Your v1 floor plan is available as a preview as soon as initial measurements are ready — no more waiting for the full cycle before you can assess what you have.
A meaningful decision point: The preview gives you enough to decide whether v1 measurements are sufficient for your claim file or whether waiting for refinement will produce a more defensible estimate.
Seamless integration either way: Whether you accept the preview or wait for the refined output, your floor plan, sketch, measurements, and virtual walkthrough auto-import into Xactimate and Cotality — no manual steps required.
Flexibility during high-volume periods: During CAT response or peak claim volume, you have the option to move forward with v1 and keep claims progressing without waiting on refinement.

What's the difference between the preview and refined measurements?
What's the difference between the preview and refined measurements?
The preview contains v1 measurements — an initial set generated before Hover's refinement process runs. Refined measurements go through an additional processing step that can improve completeness and accuracy. In most cases, refinement produces a more complete output. If your claim requires a highly defensible estimate, waiting for refinement is recommended.
Will my outputs auto-import into Xactimate or Cotality if I skip refinement?
Will my outputs auto-import into Xactimate or Cotality if I skip refinement?
Yes. Whether you accept the v1 preview or wait for refined measurements, your outputs — including the floor plan, sketch, measurements, and Virtual Walkthrough — auto-import into Xactimate and Cotality once the project status reaches Done. No additional action is required.
Can I skip refinement for one level and wait for refinement on another level?
Can I skip refinement for one level and wait for refinement on another level?
Yes. On multi-level scans, each level has its own preview and its own Skip Refinement option. Skipping refinement on one level has no effect on other levels. Each level is processed independently.
I skipped refinement — can I still get the refined measurements later?
I skipped refinement — can I still get the refined measurements later?
Not in the current release. Once you skip refinement, your v1 measurements are released as the final output for that level. The ability to reinitiate refinement after skipping is planned for a future update.
Is this available for Universal Scans or exterior scans?
Is this available for Universal Scans or exterior scans?
No. The Preview and Refinement flow applies to LiDAR Interior Scans only. Exterior and Universal Scans are not affected by this update.
I don't see the Skip Refinement option. Why?
I don't see the Skip Refinement option. Why?
The Skip Refinement availability is controlled at the organization level. If your organization has disabled the skip option, you won't see it on the Preview screen.
Contact your account administrator or Hover Support if you have questions about your organization's refinement settings.
