Hover for Insurance

A connected platform from the first photo to final settlement.

Updated today

When most people first hear about Hover, they think of accurate, reliable measurements — and for good reason. Our measurement technology remains the gold standard in the industry.

But Hover has evolved into much more than a measurement tool. Today, it’s a connected platform that supports the entire claims workflow, from first notice of loss (FNOL) to ready-to-estimate files. Hover helps you capture, document, and deliver complete, standardized claim packages faster, whether you’re in the field or at your desk.

Example Hover workflow

  1. Capture properties in a single, guided flow

Start by dispatching an adjuster — staff or independent, or even a policyholder using Hover Connect. Hover’s guided capture workflow walks each user through exactly what to document, in the right order, for both interior and exterior inspections. Each photo is automatically labeled and organized (front, right, back, left), with voice notes and metadata included. This ensures every file is complete and compliant, no manual sorting or renaming required.

  2. Standardize documentation and improve accuracy

With Hover, you can capture comprehensive data in minutes. Once processed, Hover’s structured 3D data automatically generates detailed measurements, sketches, and photo documentation that feed directly into your estimating systems.

    • Exterior: Roof pitch, elevations, soffits, openings, and more

    • Interior: Walls, floors, windows, and cabinetry with opening deductions

    • Photos: All labeled and stored in a single, centralized view

  3. Review and collaborate from anywhere

Every capture is processed into a virtual, 3D walkthrough of the property, allowing remote desk adjusters and QA teams to inspect and verify details without revisiting the site. Hover’s standardized output makes it easy for reviewers and legal teams to trace each photo, note, and measurement — saving hours of manual work.

  4. Import seamlessly into estimating platforms

Hover integrates directly with Verisk (Xactimate) and Cotality (Claims Workspace) so your measurement data, labeled photos, and annotations flow automatically into your claim file. No re-entry, no formatting errors. Just ready-to-estimate, fully documented claims.

  5. Deliver faster, more accurate claim outcomes

By standardizing inspections, reducing manual QA work, and integrating directly into your estimating systems, Hover helps you shorten cycle times, lower loss adjustment expenses (LAE), and deliver a smoother experience for policyholders.

Answers to your top questions

How accurate are Hover’s measurements?

Hover’s measurements are trusted across the insurance industry for being both highly accurate and complete. Unlike aerial-only providers, Hover captures every detail (including soffits, gutters, corners, and returns) so you get a full picture of the property.

That precision matters. Even small measurement errors can impact repair estimates, material costs, and settlement accuracy across hundreds of claims. With Hover, you can rely on consistent, field-verified data for both exterior and interior measurements, ensuring every file meets your documentation standards.

Once captured, that same data powers the rest of your claims workflow:

  • Claim documentation: Create standardized, photo-labeled reports ready for estimating or carrier review.

  • Scoping and estimation: Import measurements directly into Xactimate or Cotality to generate accurate, auditable estimates in minutes.

Why do I need to take photos?

Hover uses photos to create an accurate digital twin of the property: a detailed 3D model built from the most current and complete information available.

Capturing images from the ground ensures Hover can detect details that aerial imagery often misses, such as roof edges, soffits, line segments, and fascia. This level of precision helps your measurements and reports reflect the property’s true conditions, even in complex or damaged areas.

Those same photos also power the interactive 3D model used for claim review and scoping. It allows adjusters and QA teams to virtually inspect the property, confirm dimensions, and document damage without additional site visits, improving accuracy and reducing cycle time.

Does Hover work for interiors?

Yes! Hover captures accurate interior measurements as easily as exterior ones. Using your smartphone or tablet, you can scan entire rooms to generate precise wall, floor, ceiling, window, and door dimensions, including opening deductions.

Hover supports two interior scan options:

  • Universal Interior Scan: Works on any smartphone or tablet.

  • LiDAR Interior Scan: Available on LiDAR-enabled Apple devices (iPhone 12 Pro or newer)

Once processed, Hover delivers a complete 3D interior model with labeled photos, measurements, and a virtual walkthrough. This data can be imported directly into Xactimate or Cotality, making it easy to scope, review, and settle claims without multiple site visits.

Hover gives insurance professionals a faster, more consistent way to manage claims, from the first photo to the final settlement. By guiding every capture, standardizing documentation, and connecting directly to your estimating platforms, Hover eliminates rework and reduces cycle times. The result is a simpler, more transparent process that improves accuracy, strengthens collaboration, and delivers a better experience for policyholders.
