Faster, smarter material assignments

How to bulk apply multiple Material List templates at once

Updated this week

If you work on complex, multi-material builds, you know how tedious it can be to assign materials one surface at a time. That’s why we built the Bulk Apply feature - a visual way to assign Material List templates directly from the 3D model.

Whether you're scoping in the office or quoting in the field, Bulk Apply helps you work faster, reduce errors, and keep your margins clean.

  • Save time on every job

  • Get it right the first time - no more mis-assigned surfaces

  • Less back-and-forth between the 3D model and material list

How to use the bulk apply feature

If you're creating a material list for a blueprint job, the ability to "bulk apply" templates will be your default experience. Want to try it out on a standard exterior capture job?

  • Select the option to "Choose and scope materials in 3D”.

There are two ways to assign templates to a group of surfaces:

  1. From the 3D model:

  • Click the surfaces on the model

  • Choose your desired template (e.g., board & batten, shingle, etc.)

  • Click Apply

2. From the trade panel:

  • On the left side of the screen, scroll through the trade panel to locate the specific surfaces you want to assign to a template

  • Click the pencil / black edit button

  • Choose your desired template (e.g., board & batten, shingle, etc.)

  • Click Apply

  • If needed, adjust individual surfaces afterward for finer detail

    • Click the Edit area prompt from the template in the trade panel - any assigned surfaces will auto-highlight on the model and appear within the trade panel

    • To select or de-select a surface, simply click on it from either the trade panel or 3D model

    • Click Apply

From this screen, you can also click Add to scope + to create a new material group for any material type, then add facades to that new material group.

  • Click Add to scope + from the bottom of the trade panel

  • Click the material type from the top of the trade panel

  • Click Hover Library and select your desired template

  • Click Edit area

  • Click on the facade(s) you want included in the new material group - you can select them from either the trade panel or 3D model

  • Click Apply

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still fine-tune individual surfaces after using Bulk Apply?

Yes. You can edit, add, or remove specific facets after applying a group template.

What if I change something in the 3D model - will Bulk Apply update too?

For now, any structural model updates will not auto-sync with Bulk Apply selections.
