Manually merge your .esx file into Xactimate

How to merge the .esx file into Xactimate if you are not utilizing the integration

Updated over a month ago

For the quickest, and easiest experience, we recommend integrating your Hover and Verisk accounts so that property data, sketches, and damage photos are seamlessly passed from Hover into Xactimate.

Using the integration to import your Hover data helps to preserve your macros across all Xactimate profiles. In contrast, manually importing the .esx file will default to the Carrier profile only, which may override pre-set variables. This can result in some variables being “zeroed out,” adding extra manual steps to your workflow.

If you still prefer to manually merge your Hover .esx file into an Xactimate claim, continue reading below for a step by step overview.

Click the arrows below to expand or collapse additional information.

Step 1) Export the Hover .esx file

  • Click Export from the top of the property details page

  • Click the box beside .esx

  • Click Download

Step 2) Navigate to Local Projects

  • From the Local tab in Xactimate, click the boxes beside your claim, and the Hover job data

  • From the right side menu, click the merge icon

Click Next from the Project Wizard pop-up

Step 3) Complete the merge

  • Use the drop down menu to select your claim (Source Project)

    • Make sure the Hover Job ID listed under Merging Order matches the job ID within your Hover account

  • Click Finish

Step 4) Review the sketch

  • From the Estimate tab in Xactimate, you can open and review the sketch

    • Photos of the property, as well as any damage photos, will be listed under the Photos tab

Note: If the sketch area is blank after you've merged the .esx file, you may need to click the drop-down arrow and select the newly added sketch.
