Understanding soffit measurements within the HOVER Measurement PDF

We include a soffit summary page, and soffit breakdown chart in the PDF

Updated over a week ago

When you receive a measurement PDF from HOVER, you'll see several pages and tables included to make your workflow even easier. The soffit summary page, and the soffit breakdown chart are part of the valuable information found in this report.

What is a soffit?

A roof will often times extend past the walls of a home. This overhang goes by a few names such as the house eaves or the rafters of the roof. The underside of the overhang, when given a finished appearance, is known as the soffit, which means "something fixed underneath".

Soffit Summary page

The HOVER measurements pdf includes a soffit summary page which provides a detailed breakdown of soffit depth / pitch and reference numbers that relate back to the sketch:

Use the reference numbers on the summary sketch to find a more detailed breakdown on the next page of the report:

Soffit Calculations

When there is a soffit rectangle(s) on a job that cannot be easily labeled as an eave / rake, we still include it in the PDF and show the soffit type as β€œ - β€œ. This ensures our soffit totals between the PDF and Design Pro match as much as possible.

Note: Totals may not match perfectly due to rounding differences between our PDF and Design Pro.

Additional tip

Look for hidden eaves which are represented by dotted lines on the sketch:
