Estimate details: New page. Better workflow.

Estimate details have been redesigned for quicker review. See how to review questions on one page and jump between sections.

What's New? When creating an estimate, you can now view the questions on one scrollable page, with a section list on the left that lets you jump straight to a section you need. The questions, answer options, and defaults are the same as before.

Overview

Making specific changes to your estimate is easier with the redesigned estimate details page. Estimation questions appear in a single column on one scrollable page, or use the lefthand list to jump to specific questions, so you can review and adjust your answers quickly without navigating the full production list.

Tapping Edit scope on an existing estimate will open this new layout. Additionally, if your Hover admin requires the estimate details page for all new estimates, you will see this new format once you click Create estimate.

Note: This update is part of a phased release and may not be available to all users yet. If your experience looks different, or you'd like early access, please contact our Support team.

How it works

Creating an estimate with the new estimate details page:

  • Start an estimate: You can start an estimate from either the project details page or from within the 3D Design experience, depending on where you are in your workflow.

  • Select your template(s) and confirm the area(s) of the property to which they’re being assigned.

  • Review the questions: The new layout opens as one page with section tabs listed on the side. Whichever section you’re currently viewing will be highlighted for easier navigation.

    • If you're using the mobile app, use the drop-down menu in the top center to navigate between section tabs.

  • Answer questions or keep the defaults. The page will open with default answers. Scroll through the questions to make adjustments, or select a section in the list on the left to jump between sections.

    • If you prefer to skip the list of questions, tap Create estimate and confirm from the pop-up that you want to continue without reviewing the default answers.

  • Select Create estimate.

Tip: Questions that relate to each other now sit close together. For example, when you answer a Ventilation question, you can see the other roof questions without changing pages.

Using the new estimate details page to edit the scope of an existing estimate:

  • Open the estimate and select Edit scope.

  • Confirm your template selections and areas.

  • When the estimate details page opens, jump directly to the section(s) you want to change, using the list on the left. For example, select Ventilation to fix the number of roof vents.

  • When you’re done making changes to your answers, click or tap Update estimate.

Two templates in the same trade

If you apply two templates to the same trade, any questions that differ between the templates will be listed separately in that trade's section. A divider line separates each group, and each group is labeled with the template it belongs to. Your answers apply only to the template named in that group.

Why this is better

  • Fewer clicks to the right question: Jump straight to a section instead of clicking through multiple pages to get to it.

  • Context at a glance: See more questions on screen at once, so related answers are easier to compare.

  • Faster edits: Go directly to the section you want to change when you update the scope.

  • Same questions, better layout: Question names, labels, answer options, and defaults haven't changed.

Frequently asked questions

Click the expand arrows to reveal information.

How do I enable the estimate details page for my organization?

Your Hover admin can set this up from the Estimate preferences page. To do this, they can:

  1. Click the initials icon in the top right of their Hover account

  2. Select Estimate preferences from the drop-down menu

  3. Use the toggle on the Preferences tab to “require questionnaire before creating estimates”

Did the questions or default answers change?

No. The questions, labels, answer options, and defaults are all the same as before. Only the layout has changed.

If I make changes to the estimate details, can I revert back to the default answers?

Yes. Click or tap the ellipses (3 dots) in the right corner. From the drop-down menu, select Reset to defaults.

Do I have to answer every question?

No. Default answers are automatically applied to any question you do not change.

If you select Create estimate without reviewing the estimate questions, you'll be asked to confirm that you want the estimate created without making adjustments to the default answers.

Does the new page work the same way on a tablet?

If you are holding your tablet horizontally, the new layout will open and display in the same way that’s pictured in this article.

If you rotate your tablet vertically, you will no longer see the section list on the left. Instead, it will resemble the mobile app experience. To jump between sections on a vertically oriented tablet, tap the section name at the top of the screen, then use the drop-down menu to select the section you want to jump to.

Why aren’t I seeing this new format in my account?

This update is rolling out in phases, so you may not see it yet. If you'd like early access, contact our Support team.

Does this change how I edit an estimate's scope?

No, the steps to edit an estimate’s scope are the same:

  1. Select Edit scope

  2. Confirm your templates and areas

  3. The estimate questions now open in the new layout. Update your answers, then tap Update.
