What's New? Workspace Measurement Mode now shows a running total of selected facet areas for each material group. As you select and deselect facets — on the model or using the checkboxes in the left panel — the total updates in real time. You always know exactly how much area you've selected before you move to estimating.
Overview
When you're scoping a project in 3D, knowing the exact surface area of what you're working with matters. A miscounted facet or a missed section can mean a material shortfall on the job site.
Measurement Mode now shows you a live area total for each material group — roofing, siding, fascia, trim, and more — updating as you make selections. Select a facet on the model or check it off in the left panel, and the total updates immediately. You can see at a glance how much of the total area you've included, formatted as "429 of 962 ft²," so nothing gets missed before you build your estimate.
How to use facet area totals in Measurement Mode
Open a project in the Workspace web app and navigate to Measurement Mode.
Select a material group from the tab bar at the top of the left panel (e.g., Fascia, Roof, Walls).
Select facets by clicking on the model or using the checkboxes in the left panel. The total area for that material group updates in real time.
Review the running total displayed at the top of the panel — formatted as "[selected] of [total] ft²" — to confirm how much area you've included.
Deselect facets at any time to remove them from the total. The count updates immediately.
Tip: Before you start an estimate, use the running total to verify your selection against the full area count. If the numbers don't add up, you can catch a missed facet here instead of correcting a material order later.
Why this is better
Previously, there was no way to see how much area you'd selected within a material group while working in Measurement Mode. You had to rely on a full count after the fact — or catch gaps when building the estimate.
Scope with confidence: You can see exactly how much area you've selected at any point in the process, not just at the end.
Catch missed facets before they become material shortfalls: The "X of Y ft²" format shows what's selected against the full available area, so gaps are visible before you estimate.
Move faster from measurement to estimate: With accurate area totals confirmed in Measurement Mode, you spend less time rechecking and more time building.
Facet area totals make the measurement step more precise and give you a cleaner handoff into estimating.
