Changing products in the 2D experience just got easier

Selecting and applying products to a 2D design is even easier with the new drill-down menu.

What's New? The 2D Design experience now includes a step-by-step drill-down menu when choosing which products to apply to an area(s) of the property.

Overview

Most of the 2D Design experience stays the same. You still start from the inspiration feed or customize the original photo. Your saved brand and product settings carry over automatically, and Search still works the way it always has. The one change is how you pick products. A new drill-down menu walks you through the process step-by-step, or you can now quickly reapply products you've used on past projects.

Note: This update is may not be available to all users yet. If your experience looks different, or you'd like early access, please contact our Support team.

How to use it

Enter the 2D experience:

From the 2D card of the property details page, you can either:

  • Select start designing in 2D to create a new design of the property using the inspiration feed, or

  • Select a previously saved 2D design, if applicable. The saved design will open in the 2D experience.

Select and change materials in 2D:

When you begin designing an image for the first time, you will initially see generic material group categories from the selection panel.

How to select and change materials using the new product selection flow:

  • Pick an area: Tap a material group in the left panel or a specific part of the image.

  • Tap Change: Once an area is selected, a Change button appears. Tap it to open the product selection panel.

  • Choose a product: From the panel, follow the drill down step by step:

    1. Select a product type

    2. Select a brand

    3. Select a product line

    4. Apply a color

Once you apply the product, the display updates to reflect the material you used.

Pro Tip: If you want to compare colors across a specific product line (e.g. James Hardie board and batten) the drill-down menu gets you to one screen showing every color option, the way a physical sample board would.

Already have certain products in mind? Use Search or Recents to skip the full product selection flow:

  • Search a specific product

    • Enter a product name or variation by entering text into the search bar

  • Toggle to view recently applied products

    • Under Recents, you'll find your recently used products from past projects

Pro Tip: You can navigate back to a previous step anytime by using the back arrow or jumping to the previous step with the step indicators.

Why this is better

The new experience gives you:

  • Clearer product selection: Rather than overwhelm you or the homeowner with every option at once, the new flow guides you step-by-step to what you’re looking for.

  • Faster brand and color comparison: The drill-down puts every color for a chosen product line on one screen, removing the need to use filters to compare shades.

  • Same drill-down across both experiences: The product selection flow is now exactly the same for both the 2D and 3D experiences. Create the 2D design, transfer it to the 3D experience, and continue scoping the project seamlessly.

Frequently asked questions

Click the expand arrows to reveal or collapse information.

Can I search by brand?

The Search functionality matches product names. To narrow to a single brand, use the drill-down instead: pick a product type, then choose the brand from the list.

Do I lose my saved brand and product setup?

No. Any account configuration you have today applies to the new experience automatically.

Will my existing 2D designs still be there?

Yes. This update changes how you pick products and navigate. It doesn't impact your saved designs.

Can I move from 3D back into 2D?

If you transfer a 2D design to 3D for scoping, but then want to return to the 2D Design, go back to the project details page and open the 2D design from there. Your design from 3D will not be applied to the 2D design.
