What's new? You can now scan and manage multiple structures within one project. Instead of creating separate projects for each building on a property, you can:
Scan multiple structures in one session
Access them from a single property page
Easily switch between structures across mobile and web
Each structure is still processed individually, so you get separate measurements, 3D models, and outputs for each one.
Overview
The multi-structure capability allows you to group related scans (like a main home and detached garage) into one project.
This makes it easier to:
Keep all project data in one place
Navigate between structures without switching projects
Manage properties with multiple buildings more efficiently
Hover continues to generate accurate measurements, 3D models, and estimates for each structure, helping you move from first scan to estimate without changing your workflow.
How it works
Think of it as one project with multiple structures inside it.
All structures are grouped under one Job ID
All structures appear on the same Project Details Page
Each structure is still:
Processed independently
Delivered separately*
Accessed individually
*For our Xactimate and Cotality integrations, all structures can be imported into the same claim.
How to use it
Scanning an exterior project with more than one structure:
Scan your first structure as you normally would
On the Scan Summary screen, tap Add another structure (Do not tap Finish yet)
Review and rename the next structure (optional)
Additional structures are automatically named based on your original structure name, with a count appended (e.g., “Project Name - 2”)
You can add up to 20 structures per project.
Tap Get started to scan the next structure
Repeat as needed, then tap Finish when all structures have been scanned
Uploading begins automatically after each structure is completed, but the models and measurements won’t be returned until you've finished scanning all structures and submitted the entire project. This is to ensure all models are completed before billing or exporting to integrations.
Note: This capability is available for interior projects as well, but there are some differences. Use this article to follow the interior project workflow for multiple levels.
Viewing and switching between levels, once completed:
On mobile:
Open the Project Details Page
Tap the toggle below the project details (top center)
Select the structure you want to view
On web:
Open the Property Details Page
Use the toggle at the top of the page to choose which structure to view
Note: You can access measurements, 3D models, and other features for each structure.
Why this is better:
Multi-structure makes it easier to manage real-world properties that include more than one building.
Instead of juggling multiple projects, you can:
Scan everything in one workflow
Keep projects organized in one place
Move from first scan to final takeoff faster
Frequently asked questions:
Click the expand arrows to reveal information.
Do all structures have the same Job ID?
Do all structures have the same Job ID?
Yes. All structures scanned in one session share the same Job ID.
Does this affect pricing or billing?
Does this affect pricing or billing?
Pricing depends on the type of scan:
Exterior scans are charged per structure
Interior scans are multi-level, and you will be charged once, based on total square footage across all levels
NOTE: If you choose to scan multiple structures and order later (known as Photos only, or Capture Only), you won’t be charged until you upgrade the project to a roof-only or full exterior measurement type. All structures in the project will be upgraded and then charged separately.
Is there a limit to how many structures I can scan for one project?
Is there a limit to how many structures I can scan for one project?
You can scan up to 20 structures per project.
Can I create one estimate or material list for all structures?
Can I create one estimate or material list for all structures?
Not yet. Estimates and material lists are created per structure.
Can I see everything in one PDF?
Can I see everything in one PDF?
No. Each structure has its own PDF.
Can I add another structure later?
Can I add another structure later?
No. All structures must be scanned in the same session before tapping Finish.
Are there other limitations?
Are there other limitations?
Yes. At this time, structures are grouped but not combined which means you cannot combine:
Measurements / PDFs
Estimates or material lists
3D models
You also cannot:
Add another structure after finishing the project
Merge older projects into one
Does this work with integrations as well?
Does this work with integrations as well?
All structures are imported into a single claim within Xactimate or Cotality.
If you use Hover with another platform:
Some integrations may require updates to fully support multiple structures per project
If you don’t see all structures in your integration, contact your integration provider for details
If you built a custom integration, you can leverage multi structure but you will likely need to upgrade your integration. Please reach out to your Hover representative who will connect you to our Solutions Engineering team.
