What's New? You can now add splits, convert walls to trims (and vice versa), and remove shutters within Hover’s design tool.
These new tools give you faster, more flexible control over every detail of your 3D design. Refine materials, adjust architectural features, and visualize updates instantly without disrupting your workflow.
Overview
The new Split, Convert, and Remove tools give you greater flexibility and precision when refining exterior designs. Whether you’re adding a horizontal transition trim, creating a brick or masonry base, or cleaning up window details, you can now make these changes directly within the 3D model.
Note: This update is part of a phased release and may not be available to all users yet. If your experience looks different, or you’d like early access, please contact our Support team.
Splits
Splits allow you to divide a wall into multiple segments, creating separate design areas such as horizontal trim, accent panels, or material transitions.
How to Add a Split to a Wall
Open your project in Workspace and select the Split tool from the toolbar.
Deselect any active walls if needed, then enter Split Mode.
Select a wall to split, and click Next.
Use the adjustment bar or measurement input to precisely define your split height or location.
Click Apply to create a new facet. Your wall is now divided into two segments.
How to Add a Split to Trim
Deselect any active trims if needed, then enter Split Mode.
Select a trim to split, and click Next.
Use the adjustment bar or measurement input to precisely define your split height or location.
Click Apply. Your trim is now divided into two segments.
TIP: Use the zoom and measure tools to align splits with existing architectural features, like trim edges or window tops.
Convert Walls and Trims
The new conversion tool makes it easy to transform a wall into a trim (for features like horizontal trim) or a trim into a wall (for features like brick base).
How to Convert a Wall to Trim
After creating a split, select the new wall segment.
Click Convert to Trim from the toolbar.
The segment automatically becomes a trim and inherits the color and style of your existing trims.
To ensure consistency, use Select All Trims to verify that your belly band matches other trim elements.
How to Convert Trim to a Wall
Select an existing trim segment (for example, at the base of a wall).
Click Convert to Wall.
The segment now behaves like a wall surface, perfect for applying wall materials like brick or siding to create a brick base or other architectural bases.
TIP: Use conversion tools to maintain realistic continuity between material types (for example, extending brick details below transition trim).
Removing Shutters
A simpler, cleaner workflow for managing window details. You can now remove or restore shutters in a single click.
Open your Shutters category in the material panel.
Click Remove Shutters and they’ll disappear instantly from the model.
To restore them, use the Undo button or reload from a saved design.
TIP: If you’ve saved your design before removing shutters, reloading that version will bring them back automatically.
Why This Is Better
The new Split, Convert, and Remove tools streamline your design process by combining flexibility, precision, and control:
Faster customization: Make precise adjustments to trims, walls, and material transitions directly in 3D.
Improved visualization: Reflect real construction details and material separations without redrawing or reloading the model.
Stronger homeowner conversations: Visually demonstrate architectural options, upgrades, or changes during meetings.
Together, these enhancements make Hover a more powerful platform for design, collaboration, and construction sales engagement.
